notes:
here it is the Hakone Aphrodite Open Air festival performance of August 6 1971 - first of 2 days festival in Hakone, Japan.
this RoIO has even 4 sources: 3 from audience recordings and 1 from video .
It's often said to be both from August 6 and 7 but I really guess there is nothing from August 7 here.
The first CD and the second one have certainly the same performance.
Maybe just A Saucerful Of Secrets might be from August 7 actually, since it's is the only tack that come from a 3rd audience tape of an 'unknown' origin, and the sound difference is clear, especially the “ambience”.
I do think the real proposal of this RoIO is to let everybody get the August 6 performance complete from all the available sources.
This RoIO should be indeed the "meeting" of other two RoIOs: the "1971 Hakone Aphrodite" Digital Floyd Archives reissue (DFA-011) > CD1; and the denoised Aphrodite 1971 RoIO (label unknown/ from DS94J058 Dynamite Studio) > CD2; + Atom Heart Mother from the video. I guess no tapes were used for this RoIO really.
A Saucerful Of Secrets was performed (supposedly) both on August 6 and 7, this ASOS here included was in fact already in the DFA release, but since the DFA version came out none was able to know if that ASOS is really from 6 or 7 (for the reason I explain above: the different source) ... if the DFA intention was to complete the August 6 setlist we should just suppose that ASOS comes from August 6; in this case there should be maybe another complete (?) tape for this same date, otherwise we should suppose that it does exist a tape for the August 7 performance and that the DFA got just ASOS from that one... or more probably they got a tape already having the 2 source mixed and we'll never know.
The DFA release is not 100% complete anyway. First of all it was a reissue, there are at least other 2 RoIOs with the same recording (no Saucerful obviously) and all these RoIOs from this “first source” are missing Cymbaline. Cymbaline is included in the version from the “second” source that sounds absolutely better than the “first” ..
The CD “Aphrodite 1971” from this “second” source (here part of CD2) has a wrong tracklist. The exact setlist of the August 6 show should be exactly the one that's on CD1 (apart from the missing Echoes and Cymbaline) ... since here there are tunings in any track, and there's no fading and stuff, the tracklist of the first recording should suggest the actual setlist of the gig. This should be the actual setlist so: ( I guess for both the dates)
Atom Heart Mother / Green Is The Colour / Careful With That Axe, Eugene/ Echoes / Cymbaline / A Saucerful Of Secrets.
Both Echoes and Cymbaline are not complete on the “second” source …  Echoes starts from the second verse and Cymbaline is cut.
