go to DAVID GILMOUR IN VENEZIA - Piazza San Marco - August 12, 2006(reprise)
I planned to leave my town in the afternoon of August 4 to be in Venezia at about 9pm (I had a ticket for the show of August 5 but I hoped to be able to listen to the first show too someway) so I worked over-time for all the previous weeks to have the "special permission" to work only half a day that day ... but all started bad since the beginning. I jumped on my train to Venezia soon after I was out from work to find that our connection had 2 hours of delay then! ... the disappointment of the train delay was destined to be nothing compared to the sms I got on my phone during the trip though. I was indeed warned about the stage problem soon after the “incident” happened … even if I totally ignored that that was not that easy to fix .. having the hope (I was really sure of it!) that *my* date was gonna be not cancelled at least ... after a couple of hours the terrible news … BOTH DATES CANCELLED ... incredible .. even more incredible than that damned train which had actually over 3 hours of delay at the end (thanks FS!)…
We were at our hotel after midnight and the first thing I did was to go there, to that cursed place…
There were still a lotta firemen working and several other people in uniform, very few fans .. a sad, quiet desert of lights…

"SORRY FOR THE TROUBLE
WE ARE WORKING FOR THE DAVID GILMOUR

CONCERTS IN PIAZZA SAN MARCO
THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE"

the morning after I still could not believe it, and still the first thing I did was to have a check to the works of fixing of the stage. All seemed to go on very slowly prolly cause they didn't know what to do, if to dismantle the cumbersome unlucky stuff or to fix it... in the early evening all got fixed, while people were working on covering the precious "boxes" ..there was also an improbable Dick Parry trying to find or just handling some of his sax's (as you can see here below)

...even if disappointed I hoped to be able to see whatever date they would have chosen to replace this the event ... so I just stayed cool and enjoyed the town as a tourist (it was my 4th time in Venezia, and surely not the last one). The town was full of newspapers' ad's talking about the event, stangely no ad's of the show itself were aound, I saw only one inside a shop

in the evening all was really fixed and left there...waiting for the final response about the date ..that came late that day and got 100% confirmed this morning (August 6) on all the local and international newspapers ... with great disappointment of the many foreign fans there the dates were fixed for the next weekend, sadly some friends who were there from Germany, Holland, AUSTRALIA etc... even many italians can not come again!

... about me ...
I had to say goodbye to my planned Ferragosto holidays "on an island"
... see you next week, Venezia! ... hopefully for the last time this year!
