notes

This is an alternate recording to the Knobs release with a quite nice sound. In spite of the hiss I do prefer this version to Knobs, unless a non LP sourced version of that recording will arise Knobs will remain a pretty weird version too.
The Digital Reproduction release "If Pigs Could Fly" was sourced from this master (speedcorrected)
Money was not recorded by this taper, it was filled here from the Knobs
LP (patched) even if it turned out sounding here quite similar to the rest of the songs.
DR notes:
Recorded live at the Wembley Empire Pool, London, England on March 15, 1977. This is a decent recording from the Animals tour. It is very bass heavy with quite a bit of hiss denoting an oft traded recording. If remixed, it could be a much better show. The crowd is sort of subdued unlike other performances where the audiences are more rowdy. Wish You Were Here starts off with Peter Gabriel's "Solisbury Hill", now 'ain't that peculiar' to quote another PG song.

notes about the master by the taper himself:

The above info is correct, I can be certain of this because I recorded it. The lineage is wrong though, I made no copies directly to CDR.
I only made two copies, on DAT, one for myself and one for a beer drinking friend. The original ran slow so when it was transferred I used the pitch control on my old Nakamichi 700. All subsequent copies that I traded out were from this DAT.  The bass is excessive on the tape due to the fact that I was virtualy sat in the PA column (stage left). I couldn't get a ticket for the opening night, and as I had tickets for the other four Wembley shows I travelled up on the day of the show determined not to miss out on the curtain raiser. At the box office I was told that to beat  the ticket touts, a limited amount of tickets would be sold on the day of the show itself.
These seats were all marked 'restricted view', but although marked as such I had an excellent view of the stage looking over Ricks shoulder as it were!
The bass vibrated through the concrete floor, through my legs and finally the recorder (which was on my lap), this is why the recording sounds distorted during the louder passages.
There are a few changes in level at the start of Sheep as I was trying to adjust for the bass level. After Sheep I just left it.
I did not record the encore 'Money' as I only had a C120 and I had started to record about 5 minutes before the 2nd set started, so I ran out of tape.Although I had remembered to take batteries (and recorder) when I arrived
at Wembley I hadn't brought a cassette with me! I hastily bought a Memorex 120 in a local shop as this was all they had.
I've included my stub and a picture of the master tape.
