1972 November 15 :  Looking Through The Knotholes In Granny’s Wooden Leg

updated July 2008

the show was first advertised to take place in Munich (see the poster/ad below)

the November 15 date was also attributed to the Dusseldorf show on Bravo magazine (see picture below), where it is reported a

November 16 date always in Munich and there's no mention of a November 14 date at all, also a unique date in Frankfurt is reported.

setlist: The Dark Side Of The Moon, One Of These Days, Careful With That Axe Eugene, Echoes ( Looking Through The Knotholes In Granny’s Wooden Leg), Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun

4 different recordings are in circulation for this date, very often mixed together as the best recorder, the TROTSON source (recorder 1), got only Careful/Echoes/OOTD, these 3 tracks have been used to patch recorder 2 and recorder 3 (you can consider it vice-versa too) but while recorder 2 also circulated without patch, recorder 3 always circulated with the patch from recorder 1, there's only a recent source having OOTD from recorder 3, the other 2 tracks from recorder 3 never surfaced:

recorder 1: this recorder includes only Careful/Echoes/OOTD and it is often mixed with recorder 3 or recorder 2

here below follow some of the most common versions of this recorder ('s):

- "The Return Of The Sons Of Nothing" (Past Masters) - rec1 only

- "Echoes Of The Past" (ICP1-1998) - rec1 only

- "untitled" 2ndGen. Marbal's tape - only the 3 tracks from recorder 1

- "untitled" 1st Gen. - rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD, rest from rec3

- "untitled" Master[Reel]>DAT>cass - rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD, rest from rec3

- "untitled" Analog 1st Gen>CDR>EAC>WAV>TLH>FLAC>DIME. rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD, rest from rec3

- "'REELING IN PINK FLOYD' - TAPE 17" - part of the DVD4 of this series this version has CWTAE and Echoes from rec.1 while Dark Side (missing the beginning) and OOTD are from rec.3, it is missing STC.

- "Jeming The Peming"  - rec1 + rec2 filler

- other collector's tapes have Dark Side + STC from rec.2 and the rest from this recorder or are mix of the 2 recorders in general.

 recorder 2: complete

here below follow some of the most common versions of this recorder:

- "Just Another Gig In Böblingen" (DFA) - complete

- "The Great Gig In Böblingen" - complete

- "Jeming The Peming" - incomplete (only Dark Side and STC, the rest is from recorder 1)

[for more x-ref have a look on the Fingal's Cave db]

recorder 3: supposedly complete - only Dark Side + OOTD + STC surfaced from this recorder so far

- "untitled" 1st Gen. - rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD rest from rec3

- "untitled" Master[Reel]>DAT>cass - rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD rest from rec3

- "untitled" Analog 1st Gen>CDR>EAC>WAV>TLH>FLAC>DIME -  rec1 = Careful/Echoes/OOTD, rest from rec3

- "'REELING IN PINK FLOYD' - TAPE 17" - part of the DVD4 of this series this version has CWTAE and Echoes from rec.1 while Dark Side (missing the beginning) and OOTD are from rec.3, it is missing STC.

- several fantapes with different sources/mix can be findable in collector's archives.

recorder 4: taped by certain Uli, recently surfaced in 2010 this recorder is incomplete having the Dark Side Set beginning on "Time". A version is around from a copy of the  masters

evident differences and points where to recognize the  sources:

Speak To Me: on recorder 3 it's complete ; on recorder 2 it's almost totally missing, there's only the very end of it. on  recorder 1 and 4 it's totally missing.
Money: on recorder 3 there's guy screaming after the song is over near the taper - on recorder 2 there are only applauses after the song is over. on  recorder 4 people chat and there's someone caughing in the distanceafter the song is over, the taper touches the mic/recorder as soon as the notes of U&T start.
Eclipse: on recorder 2 at the end there are 2 guys yelling near to the microphone and another guy whistling soon after also near to the taper, on recorder 3 the guys yelling are far and there's not the other guy whistling soon after. on recorder 4 there's nothing detectable at the end of the song.
Careful: on recorder 2 at the beginning there are guys talking near to the taper, there are no guys talking on recorder 1, there's rather a guy yelling and others whistling. BUT! the DFA release (rec.2) seems to have used a filler from the first source for the end of Careful, there's there, on the DFA version, the same guy who talks on the first recorder indeed ... it's clearly a filler there, the sound changes markedly. Maybe in the second source the end of Careful was missing, indeed it's missing the tunings and the Waters’ announce to Echoes too (Echoes starts from the first notes on the DFA version). on recorder 4 there's nothing clearly detectable at the beginning of the song.
Echoes: on recorder 1 there’s a guy yelling near the taper on the applauses at the beginning  … Echoes here includes the intro + tunings too. on recorder 4 there's a woman laughing loud as soon as Waters introduces the song as "
Looking Through The Knotholes In Granny’s Wooden Leg", she's not near to the taper but very audible.
OoTD: there are maybe less evident different guys whistling and stuff, but it's enough a listen to understand there's a different ambience, recorder 1 and recorder 4 include the Waters’ greeting at the end "Thank You Very Much, Good Night" (and Gilmour "Good Night, Thank You") then the recording cuts; that's also on recorder 3 but followed by people yelling near to the taper; it's totally missing on the versions around of recorder 2 (where the song is put at the beginning of the second set).
- the same guy who talks at the beginning of Careful appears again at the beginning of STC on  recorder 3, no guy on  recorder 2, again ... on the first recorder there's also the last greeting of Waters missing in the second.
