1974 November 28, 29 and 30 - Empire Theater, Liverpool updated July 2006
setlist: Shine On You Crazy Diamond / Raving And Drooling / You Gotta Be Crazy / The Dark Side Of The Moon / Echoes
The dating: few recorders of this Liverpool date exist, the 2 recorders in general circulation are here below described. recorder 1 incomplete as it seems, having only Shine On You Crazy Diamond / Raving And Drooling / You Gotta Be Crazy (this only uses to circulate at least) Common versions of this recorder are: "British Winter Tour" (Highland HL573) supposed from the masters; the Digital Reproduction's "Empire Theatre" and the numerous remastered versions of both. Very nice sound quality in spite of some fluctuations. recorder 2 is complete although the source copies in general circulation have often U&T cut, this source probably have originally only 1 cut (that appears in all the source copies) near to the end of Echoes (missing few bits). as stated above, different source copies exist, here below are examples of 3 of them: source1: the version in general circulation on cd for years now, this has U&T cut soon after "with, without", has the cut on Echoes and is missing few bits of SOYCD due to change of tape. source2: this has U&T cut on "it's what the fighting's all /", also OTR has an inside cut, has the cut on Echoes but has no missing bits on SOYCD, this also has complete tuneups, missing on source 1. source3: this is the best source I found so far, having the complete U&T (only few bits of the very beginning are missing, but this on all the sources I checked), has the cut on Echoes in the same point as on the other sources and the complete tuneups.
review of the show of the 28th from a not specified newspaper: Pink FLoyd proved in Liverpool last night that they are the heroes of rock music. They gave a faultless tow and a half hour performance which had the 2,700 capacity crowd on their feet long before the end. With over 40 tons of equipment the group had enough power and backing to showthat their music can stand up outside the recording studio. The first half of the show was an introduction to some of their newer material and although the performance was faultless, it was obvious the crowd was waiting for something more. They certainly got what they asked for after the interval when the group ran through a medley of the numbers which have made them world famous. Special mention should be made of the group's light show which captivated the crowd and gave an added dimention to the music. The group extended the Empire stage a further fifteen feet over the orchestra pit to take the equipment. They will be playing to packed houses to-night and to-morrow at the theatre, and if they keep up last night standard they should be playing to similar audiences wherever they go.
