Two recorders are in general circulation for this date, both complete and with a nice SQ, at least another recorder is known to exist and to be out there on tapes, prolly even other 2 ones. Here below there are few notes to distinguish the 2 recorders in circulation:
recorder 1: the most common recorder, few low gen's have been released on CD like "A Stranger At Home" or "Chicago '77"; some versions from 3rd generation tapes have been put in circulation too, I've checked 2 3rdGeneration copies and I've just picked the best. Recently is around also a version directly from a copy of the master with more intro/outro than other copies and a better sound quality recorder 2: this is the recorder spread time ago in MP3 format by the taper, no non-MP3 version is on CD so far from the masters (taper's name is unknown); I've found only 1 version being not lossy supposedly from unknown cassette copy of the master but the source is definitely unknown so far, this version has several little cuts unfortunately.
recorder 3: a master supposedly having about 20 minutes of pre-concert sound recorded, taped by certain Jeff J. still not in general circulation. recorder 4: ??
to recognize the 2 recorders in irculation is very easy just by the sound quality; being the recorder 2 much nearer to the speakers, here below are 2 samples in .flac to download from the first piece of Pigs On The Wings part 2 to distinguish them: clich HERE to download a sample of recorder 1 (taken from a 3rdGen cass); 5,30 MB clich HERE to download a sample of recorder 2 (taken from the Master-MP3 version); 3,37 MB NOTE!! You need to have PANDO installed to download the files. The samples are in FLAC (lossless) format - to decode them into .wav you need the FLAC tool /all you need to know about FLAC is here
