almost totally under construction

Nothing to say to introduce this page, you all know what it's going to talk about (just mind that this page is still totally under construction)

it's divided into 2 sections:

part 1. a list of the live dates in which Waters experimented some of his funny cries (includes Waters' pictish rants, general Waters' ego-eruptions)

part 2. Waters' rants "against" the crowd

the list is about performances from the 70s only so far.

here's where I want my story to begin: the only existing (so far) transcriptions of "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict"

transcription 1 : by  Brian Tompsett (taken from the www.floydian.de website)
Aye an' a bit of Mackeral settler rack and ruin
ran it doon by the haim, 'ma place
well I slapped me and I slapped it doon in the side
and I cried, cried, cried.

The fear a fallen down taken never back the raize
and then Craig Marion, get out wi' ye Claymore out mi pocket
a' ran doon, doon the middin stain
picking the fiery horde that was fallen around ma feet.

Never he cried, never shall it ye get me alive
ye rotten hound of the burnie crew.
Well I snatched fer the blade O my Claymore
cut and thrust and I fell doon before him round his feet.
Aye!
A roar he cried
frae the bottom of his heart that I would nay fall but as dead,
dead as 'a can be by his feet; de ya ken?

...and the wind cried back.

transcription 2 : by Mike Merriam
(taken from the www.floydian.de website)
Aye an' a bit of Mackeral (Fagger, wreck'n) fear
Ran it doon by the (haim)
And I (flew).
When I (slapped) me,
And I flopped it doon in the shade,
And I cried, cried, 'n cried.

The fear o' fallen down 'a taken, ne'er back t' raise.

And then cried Mary,
And I took that weighted claymore right out of (---),
And ran doon, doon the mountain side,
And back unt' the fiery horde that was fall'n round y' feet.

Never, I cried,
Never shall ye take me alive,
Y' rotten hound and the (----- --rew).

Well I (snapped fore) the blade o' my claymore,
Cut and thrust,
And I fell down before him.
Right at his feet. Aye!

A roar, he cried,
Fr' the bottom of his heart,
That I would nay fall

But as dead,
Dead as I can, by feat
(D' ya ken?)

And the wind cried Mary.

part 2 (date>venue>description/songs/suggested RoIO)

N.B. there are also literally tons of concerts where Waters made quite sarcastic comments, for a question of space those are not included in this list.

1975-04-26 Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA

Waters at the end of the first set: "We're gonna come back soon and do another set. And when we do I'd appreciate it if you people in yellow shirts stop fucking wandering about in front of the stage. Hanging the fucking shit out of you, allright?. So just sit down somewhere and enjoy the show if you can and leave everybody alone, everything will be allright" [transcription from frostbrent's site]

noticeable in this date is also the comment introducing Shine On You Crazy Diamond: "It was a cruel song, but fair. Next tune we're going do is another new number. And it's called 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', it has something to do with Syd Barrett, who some of you might know and some of you probably won't" [transcription from frostbrent's site]

SAMPLE (to be posted)*

suggested RoIO: Almost all the RoIOs are of an excellent sound quality, some of them are: "untitled" live in LA, from a master>HIFI sorce; The supposed Master Clone of the Reeling In Pink Floyd series; "Echoes From The Past (Platinum) SCS"; "Cruel But Fair" (Harvested); "The Late Millard Tapes" (Highland) about all the RoIOs claim to be from the master tapes, though the Millard's masters seem to have been never transfered directly into DAT or CD-R, so they are all probably from first gens or very good sounding higher gens; furthermore let's notice that any copy made out from the masters has different edits, edits that may also mean entire songs sometimes, then there are A LOT of versions that seem to include exactly the same one another but do really not.

1977-07-01 MSG, Madison Square Garden, NY, U.S.A.

Waters  rants at the New York Spot Light Operators (Money) "Thank you for coming. I think its…uh…[??]. I just wanted to tell you something. [??] We take around on the road with us some very good spotlight operators and the unions in this town wouldn’t fuckin’ let them work the spotlights. And the guys that did run the spotlights were very fucking shit. [??] Maybe they’ll let us do [??], but I doubt it. This is called Money." [transcription from TS' site]

SAMPLE (to be posted)*

suggested RoIO: there are 3 recorders in circulation and an incomplete recording is also available on fantapes, for the first common recorder there are are several RoIOs in circulation with different titles, but same contents, see "Where Have You Been"; nice versions are available also in fantapes like this one, the second recorder, incomplete is available from 2 fantapes like this or this ; the other recorder in circulation is available only since 2011 from the master revealing also a second encore

1977-07-03 MSG, Madison Square Garden, NY, U.S.A.

1. Waters kindly asks the audience not to light fireworks after Pigs : "thank you, we're gonna take a break ... 20 minutes and then we'll come back with another set ... and don't throw anymore fu***** fireworks, alright?"
2. Waters says "You Cunt" to a fan exploding fireworks on Pigs On The Wing part 1
3. Waters again against a fan droppin' a firework at the beginning of Pigs On The Wing part 2: "you stupid mother fu**er ... just fu** off ..." ; Waters says (+ or -) "I stop and then begin, this is the wrong verse " as soon as he realizes he's singing the first verse of Pigs On The Wing part 1 on Pigs On The Wing part 2 ... because of the Mother Fu**er he says ...

SAMPLE (to be posted)*

suggested recording: 4 different recorders exist; the 1st recoder is around sourced from the 3rd gen ("untitled" aka "from the master"); the second seems to be around sourced from claimed clones of the master tapes ("Pigs Might Fly"; "Fireworks On The Wings"), fantapes are around like this unknown gen or this LowGen-rip which sounds equal to the claimed master clone. The 3rd recorder missing SOYCD IV-IX is around from a fantape, recorder 4 is around from the masters

1977-07-04 MSG, Madison Square Garden, NY, U.S.A.

Waters calls a firework yielding fan a "Shit Bag" on Pigs On The Wing part 2

SAMPLE (to be posted)*

suggested RoIO:  few recorders exist, 2 different recorders are in circulation + 1 incomplete; the 1st recoder is around sourced from the 2nd gen ("untitled" aka "from the master"), but a version from the first gen surfaced as wellin general circulation; the second recorder is so far available in the MoLM's "Hog Heaven" release only, fantapes are out there... Only this surfaced in general circulation for the 3rdRec so far

1977-07-06 Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

1. Waters tells the crowd to leave if they want to light fireworks on Pigs On The Wing part 2: "Ah, for fucks sake don't let it off fireworks and shouting and screaming I'm trying to sing the song!I mean I don't care, if you don't wanna hear it, you know, fuck you. I'm sure there's alot of people here who do wanna hear it, so why don't you just be quiet and. If you wanna let your fireworks off go outside and let them off out there, and if you wanna shout and scream and holler go and do it out there but. I'm trying to sing a song that some people want to listen to, I want to listen to it." [transcription from frostbrent's site]

2. When Waters introduces Us & Them he rants again: "Ok. Ok we're gonna do another tune cause... Just cause there's a few assholes down the front here, there's no need for everybody to get upset, and we're gonna join it and [...] See if everybody else gets we're gonna do one more. This, this tune is called 'Us And Them', it's from 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. It's very quiet, so let's keep quiet. Try and end this thing peacefully." [transcription from frostbrent's site]

and then again at the end of the song "Thank you. Take it easy. Don't worry about it. I don't, well I do, but I wish I didn't, I wish I didn't, I wish I didn't." [transcription from frostbrent's site]
3
. When the Floyd come back on the stage for the last encore, Blues, (that from a review posted on brain-damage.co.uk is supposed to have been played without Gilmour) Waters makes his last announcement: "Ok. Well, listen we can't do any more [...] songs. So we're gonna some music, you know, to go home to. For you. We're not noted as a blues band, we're just gonna play a slow blues, you know, so everybody can calm down a bit and we'll all be allright. And thank you again for coming." [transcription from frostbrent's site]

4. This is the date of the infamous spit, on the recordings you can't actually hear the spit but according to a review posted on brain-damage.co.uk it occurred during Pigs, right at the end of the song when it starts like fading out: there you can hear Waters screaming like ""Well, hey. Come back pig! Come back! All is forgiven! Come on boy! (whistles) Come on son, just another few yards! Yeah! Oh yeah! Come in over here, son. That's a good boy! Hello, son..." then he screams something not understandable (thanks to A.C. for the transcription!)..., that's the point supposed to be the one where the spit occurred. Read the full review  HERE
