notes:
ok,
let's clarify about these 4 different Azimuth versions.
this is the "real one", the original Azimuth part 2 from the Front Row Box-Set
with the wrong speed and the pretty hissy sound etc... from this other 3
versions arose:
1. the Azimuth Coordinator part 2 (unknown label) that has no audience before
Sheep, speed was adjusted and has a bit of NR
2. the MoLM remaster (dehissed - speedcorrected)
3. Fire Works Wall In The Canadian Walls (missing Blues - same quality than the
Box's version)
well this is the more pleasurable to listlen to, having a more 'natural-feeling'
with my ears, not really processed like the other remasters, the MoLM remaster
did exaggerate a bit with the bass according my tastes; the "unknown-label"
Azimuth part 2 is pretty good, NR really didn't ruin that, but is missing some
portions of recording; Fire Works Wall In The Canadian Walls is the same as this
but missing Blues.
I'd speedcorrected this by myself rather than getting other releases, the speed
is indeed the only problem of this version, don't bother with the others.
notes as they came with the files:
Disc 3&4 are the infamous Montreal 6 Jul 77 show in complete form. I always list
this show in my top 5 fave shows.
Seems that a copy of the rare clean version has made its way to the bakery. Oh
well, I know we couldn't keep this
gem hidden forever. As such the case, most Echoesian have never heard this
ripping version of the show, and have
suffered with the crappy LP version for years. I know Dave and Rog have said
that they hated their performance that
day, but they should hear the tape first!! It's a toss up between the Oakland
'77 and Montreal '77 shows for the best
of the Animals tour. You gotta to be crazy not to get this show! Take a listen
to Dave's searing guitar work on Pigs
-3DO,while Roger lets loose some wild "pig talk". Mindnumbing stuff. Gotta love
the tirades that Roger lets fly for
the firecracker wackos. Definitely the highlight of the box set. Now I can put
away my tapes of the show before they
wear out. Not a soundboard, but the closest we'll ever get to one. Yeah, PF
taped all their '77 shows, never to see
the light of day, no doubt.
SQ is Ex.
notes fron the pf-roio db:
This was the last show of the 'In The Flesh' Tour where Roger gets upset a
couple of times. At 'Pigs On The Wing' a fire cracker goes off (and not for the
first time) which makes Roger so angry that he stops playing and tries to put an
end to it by speaking the famous words: 'Oh for fuck sake [...] I'm trying to
sing a song'.
Later on in the show, Roger alledgely spat a fan in the face ("Who was told not
to spit on the fans" :-).)
David Gilmour apperently wasn't too pleased with this performance but he surely
was wrong.
The show was awesome. One (if not THE) best versions of Pigs. Steaming and
powerful. Roger can clearly be heard shouting the numbers (90 and 61)
Not just for the events that took place, but also from a musical point of view,
this show is highly recommended.
Sound is very good and clear. I had my doubts but it only just didn't match the
EX- rating, but it's definitely VG+.
The extra encore 'blues' (or here called 'drif away blues' can be found at the
end of part 3 of the Azimuth coordinator.
This is part 2 of 3 of the already famous 6 CD set 'The Azimuth Coordinator' now
also released as 3 double-CD's (But without the book, of course). -ANDRE
One of the few RoIOs which I _really_ like. Although recording quality is not
top notch, it is still very much listenable. Hissing is present but not
annoying.
The performance is incredible, IMHO the best of the 77-tour. P3DO is clearly the
best one I know, same for SOYCD6-9 (heck, it is twenty-four minutes long!)
You should listen to the crowd. Although sometimes in a state which makes the
"concert experience" perfect, they get loud up to the point to annoying on the
last two songs. -HERWIG
The crowd certainly was in an evil mood that night, you can tell by listening to
this record. Nevertheless, it makes for a showcase of Floyd at the height of its
power (save some of the vocals, as usual). There is some remarkable, moody
intensity saturating the event. Much has been said about the show, climaxing
with the final, feverish rendition of Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts 6-9. I
would only like to mention David Gilmour, who for me reaches his crowning event
in the midst of the maelstrom of this concert. Just listen for yourselves. The
pre-Comfortably Numb Gilmour's finest hour. -ANON |
