Setlist:
The Dark Side Of The Moon / One Of These
Days
/ Careful With That Axe, Eugene /
Echoes / Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun "Only" 4 recorders are in
general circulation for this nice German show! the first recorder was
around for long time always edited ... a complete version from the
master surfaced with great joy of all the fanatics. A very
nice alt recorder surfaced in a second moment in the digital
circuit although not as much good as the common one in SQ and
unfortunately it's really shorter too (missing also 2 songs). If this is not
enough a 3rd recorder was found in the
tape archives, this wasn't taped by a German taper, it was around with part of
the second set filled with the first recorder, it actually includes more, having
only STC cut. The 4th recorder includes only OOTD, the rest of
the tapes is lost (the taper ereased it as it seems, overrecording some radio
stuff on the rest of the show)
recorder 1 is the one used
for "Dusseldorf" (missing
STC); "Dusseldorf
Master Tapes" (remastered version of the master tape by JFG); there are
around clones of
the master as well released on the project "Reeling
In Pink Floyd" too; and many VERY GOOD sounding low gens
like this 2ndGen
or this veryLow
gen which present some pieces more of recording than the MasterClones.
recorder 2 has no specific
titles, I got a version from the
master; this was the
taper placed farer from the stage.
recorder 3 has no specific
titles, the first CD version (low gen)
I found has a filler for the second set (from recorder 1) taken from a clone of
the master (it is slightly longer than the clone I had before, including the complete last
greetings that were cut in the version from the DAT clone I received).; this
taper was placed quite near to the stage and recorded the whole showas the
1stGen testimonies, it has just "Set The Controls"
cut before the end soon after Waters sings "Whether the sun will fall in the
evening", by the taper's comments he seems to be not German.
recorder 4
has only OOTD, the rest of the recording seems to have been
ereased
recorder 5
tapes of this recorder are incomplete, the most complete I
checked have the following contents: Breathe fading out, missing Eclipse (fades
out after Brain Damage), missing Set The Controls. There's only one source in
GENERAL circulation so far, from a
tape including the
first set (with the cuts as reported above) and OOTD only.
to
identify the 3 recorders around just mind that the second taper
took care to stop the recorder to leave out tune-ups and non-music parts of the
show + he missed STM and STC and stopped the recorder often during Echoes too;
you can hear the
taper and his friend chatting at the end of The Mortality Sequence, as soon as
Money starts and also in the middle of ACYL (this song is split, the chat is
soon before the split); guys talk also at the very end of Careful where the
taper also clearly moves the recorder and also very often during Echoes (bored?/need
a chat?). The
first taper has integral tune-ups and no missing songs + the taper and
guys around him cough very often; The
third taper got the
announcement in German at the very beginning missing in both the other 2
recorders; here the taper and his friend talk a lot. tHE
forth taper is incomplete (see the missing parts above) the taper is very silent
apart on STM where he speaks in german often in the back
here are some exact points of distinction:
STM
rec.1 starts from the
heartbeats, right before the airplane-noise the taper says something in German on
the mic.
rec.2 the song is missing
rec.3 there's the
announcement in German at the beginning, then the taper stops the recorder, then
there are other 3-4 little parts where the taper talks and stops the recorder
... till he leaves it on during the heartbeats, you can hear him talking here
with his friend, they go on talking during almost all the song, making comments
in German; they go on commenting during Breathe too.
rec.4 starts from the
heartbeats, people chat near to the mic in German, I can't catch any clear word.
TIME
rec.1 the taper or someone
near to him coughs on the first keyboard note (after the clocks-ringing intro),
then again and again always before Gilmour starts singing.
rec.2 -
rec.3 The taper and his
friend chat at the beginning, you can hera them chatting clearly at the
beginning of Breathe (reprise) too.
MONEY / U&T / ACYL
rec.1 someone near to the
taper laughs at the very beginning of U&T before the applauses, guys near to the
taper talk a lot during the beginning of the song, the taper clears his voice
after the Pink Floyd sing "...ordinary man"
rec.2 the taper talks
clearly at the very beginning of Money, ACYL is split in the middle, before the
split the taper chats.
rec.3 the taper or his
friend talks at the end of Money. There's a little split right at the beginning
of U&T before the slpit someone near to the taper coughs, someone around the
taper chats at the beginning of the song too. After the Pink sings "Us & Them..."
somenoe near to the taper coughs again.
rec.4
very silent audience around the taper, it's only audible some guy
whistling in the back at the end of Money before U&T starts
ECLIPSE
rec.1
on
Brain Damage
there's
little cut after "Got to keep the loonies on the path" ..reprises on
"I'll see you on the dark side of the moon"
rec.2 the taper stops the
recorder as soon as the song is over.
rec.3 this recording tends
to distort a lot in some points, and especially during this song. Here there are
the Waters' greetings at the end and then you can hear the taper chatting, then
he pushes the recorders' button 2-3 times.
rec.4
the song is missing, there's just the very first notes, then it
fades out.
OOTD
rec.1 the taper coughs and
talk during the tuneups right before the song starts.
rec.2 the taper talks with
his friend right at the beginning of the song and "attempts" a whistle at the
very beginning (right on the first bass tunes).
rec.3 the taper talks A LOT
during the tunings between the 1st and the second set (these tune-ups are so
long on this recorder only), he mentions "Pink Floyd" 2 times and says in
english "all is OK" at a certain point (right on the mic); then stops the
recorder and starts recording and talking again always during the tune-ups, he
stops and re-starts recording for the last time right at the beginning of the
OOTD soundscpe intro, comenting a lot (he sounds quite amazed by the show). A
lady yells something at the beginning of the song near to the taper too.
rec.4
very silent audience around the taper
CWTAE
rec.1 there are tune-ups at
the beginning with a guy coughing at repetition near to the taper, the taper
himself coughs right before the song starts
rec.2 The song starts from
the tuneups at the beginning but the taper stops the mic and restarts it at the
very beginning of the song. The taper moves the mic at the end of the song and
someone very near to him talks.
rec.3 this song is missing
and was filled from the master of recorder 1 on some CD. This recorder actually
has this song with long tuneups at the beginning and with the usual
taper-chatting. He laughs right before the first bass-notes and also says "Pink
Floyd" as soon as the song starts, then he goes on talking mentioning also "Ummagumma"
and talks during almost all the song then! He also attempts a little "scream"
before Waters starts screaming.
rec.4
long tune ups, edited 3 times by the taper pausing the recorder,
audience is silent
ECHOES
rec.1 after Waters
introduces Echoes you can hear someone near to the taper coughing, he goes on
coughing during all the beginning of the song. There's a little
cut in all the versions right in the middle around minute 10:10/30
rec.2 The song starts from
the tuneups at the beginning but the taper stops the mic and restarts it at the
very beginning of the song. He talks with his friend here, one of the 2 says "Echoes!"
and the other one says "Meddle eh?"; The taper and his friend chat a lot during
the silent parts of the song, the song is also split in 2 parts.
rec.3 this song is missing
and was filled from the master of recorder 1 on some CD. This recorder actually
has this song with long tuneups at the beginning. The taper stops the recorder
often on the tuneups till Waters introduces the song (the taper's friend repeats
part of what Waters says). The taper after Waters says "this is Echoes" says
fomething like "Echoes ja ...von
Meddle", again he and his friend are very excited. As usual the taper talks a
lot during the song, commenting it.
rec.4 there are tuneups
edited 2 times by the taper pausing the recorder, then it starts from Waters
introducing "Echoes", someone near to the taper says "pam!" near to the mic at
the beginning of the song, together with the first piano notes.
STC
rec.1
long applauses after Echoes and tuneups before the song starts
are present. Someone near to the taper talks in the back on the beginning of the
song
rec.2
song is missing
rec.3
this song is missing
and was filled from the master of recorder 1 on some CD. This recorder actually
has this song with
long applauses after Echoes and tuneups before the song starts but the song gets
cut before the end. The taper and his frined are stangely silent during the
begining (or it is rather the laud beginning to cover them) then whan the "silent"
bass tune starts they start commenting again, the taper mentions "A Saucerful Of
Secrets" at first then again when Waters tarts singing he says again "A
Saucerful Of Secrets" and his freiend corrects him saying something like "na,
The Heart Of The Sun" and sings "Heart Of The Sun" ..going on commenting as
usual during almost all the song.
rec.4 the song is missing
