1977 March 28/29/30/31: Stafford

 updated February 2011

setlist for both shows: Sheep / Pigs On The Wing Part 1 / Dogs / Pigs On The Wing Part 2 / Pigs (Three Different Ones) / Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) / Welcome to the Machine / Have A Cigar / Wish You Were Here / Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX) / Money

Although it is rumored that all the Stafford dates were recorded only the recordings of the last 2 ones are in general circulation so far.

One for the 4th date and Two for the 3rd are around for a long time. The recordings are usually in very "average" quality from high generation tapes, so nothing great, exept maybe the 2nd recorder of the 3rd night which is around in the genetal circuit from a very low gen for some time now.

here are some examples of version in circulation for the 3rd date 3/30:

recorder 1 is complete and there are many fantapes around, the most circulated version is one entitled by some fan "Animals In The Hall" (average quality);

recorder 2 was believed to be incomplete (only Animals set + Money); it was actually around complete on fan tapes for long but it was always confused with recorder 1 because of the average sound quality (the incomplete version sounded much better); it was then discovered a 1st generation copy of the master that reveals it to be a very good sounding recording in its entirety on the contrary. Versions from this recorder are: "Stafford Bingely Hall" (incomplete claimed from master); the recently discovered 1st generation tape having more contents than the incomplete tapes around like this; there are other various fantapes and respective CD transfers in circulation.

recorder 3: in circulation only on 2011 from the masters sound quality isn't that good but is complete of the arrangement/announcement at the beginnina also.

the 3 recorders are easy to identify right because of that cut on SOYCD 6-9 (first part is totally missing) present on recorder 2 and because of the long soundscape intro present on recorder 2 and totally missing on recorder 1. Recorder 3 has 1 minute of recording of the arrangement/announcement at the very beginning, after that, before the soundscape of Sheep there are people yelling and likely the taper talking to someone.

here are few examples of versions in circulation for the 4th date 3/31:

as said, only 1 recorder is around so far, but there are at different sources of the same recording  in circulation:

source 1: tapes having Dogs cut, these are the most common ones, a version from this source is the fanproduced cd "Last Night In Stafford", other versions as example may be this is nice 3rdGen, and tapes like this having a filler to replace the missing portion of Dogs; also CD version from 4rthGen is now widely around and it is from this source (Dogs cut) sounding slightly inferior than the 3rdGen here listed.

source 2: this has Dogs complete but has Money cut, see these notes for details.. this is not a common source to find, this is also missing the tuneups between SOYCD and Money.

source 3: this is pretty complete, it's like source 2 but without the cut on Money, which fades out at the very end only, Dogs is complete; here's an example from a non confirmed 1stGen tape, this is also missing the tuneups between SOYCD and Money.

source 4: this is the most complete version so far. It has the same contents than source 1 but without the cut on Dogs and without filler, the sound quality seems extremely nice too; the only version surfaced so far is some RoIO entitled "Flesh Animalization".

to summarize: source 1 = source 4 with Dogs cut / source 2 = source 3 with Money cut (see what I mean for sources from the same recorder)

last but not least, I don't need to mention that I'm desperately looking for the recordings of  March 28 & 29!
