1980 August 04

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "Do you still like our pig? He's not a very nice pig, but he's a very big pig! This next tune is one for all the paranoids in the audience, it's called 'Run Like Hell'. It's quite complicated, so you'll have to listen carefully. Home piggy."

recorders known: few ones (prolly over 3)

recorders in circulation on CD: 3;

recorder 1: the very common one , average quality, few remastered versions are also around, all from this source so far

recorder 2: this was around on fantapes only, all very low gen of the master tapes, sound quality isn't spectacular

recorder 3: also this recorder is average quality, this is around on fantapes only so far. little cuts of few seconds on: in the middle of ITF, at the very end of What Shall We Do Now?, at the beginning of Waiting For The Worms. One Of My Turns is missing half of the song.

This recorder seems to circulate on CD for some time from an unknown generation copy released by MoLM, notes about a raw transfer from unknown generation fantapes that i transferred myself are also available here, another example of this recorder is this really nice version from LowGen.

an easy ID point for this recorder is on Hey You, while Gilmour sings the first verse someone near to the taper asks "which block is this?" "seven?, block seven?" .. and someone else answers "yes, seven".

1980 August 05

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "Thank you. Do you like our pig? We don't like him very much. Right, that's enough fun. Home piggy. This next one is for all you disco fans, got a nice bouncy beat, it's called 'Run Like Hell'"

recorders known: few ones (prolly over 3)

recorders in circulation on CD: 3;

recorder 1: complete, the very common one is average quality with small imperfections, the CDs around like this reveal bad tracks transition and part of The Trial repeated, few remaster attempts has been done.

recorder 2: this alt recorder was around on fantapes only till some time ago, quality is much better than the other recorder although it is missing the intro at the beginning, the very beginning of Hey You and the very end of Outside The Wall, few other cuts are present too as this low gen fantape reveals, a version supposed to be a clone of the master (releases as "Here Behind My Wall") is around lately having the cuts faded and the intro patched from recorder 1

recorder 3: complete, this recorder isn't common to find on fantapes, a copy from 2ndGen has been recently surfaced ; here's another version from LowGen

to distinguish the 3 recorders is enough easy; stating that recorder 2 is probably missing the intro (the transfer supposed from the master is missing it at least), the other 2 recorders have clearly different people talking around the taper, even if the audience around the taper is very silent overall;

in order to distinguish recorder 1 and recorder 3 I'll try to write a note on some points in future

1980 August 06

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "Thank you. Do you like our pig? I don't like it. I'm bored with him. Home piggy, home piggy. This is for all the pig lovers in the audience. And for all the discos, disco freaks. And for all the paranoids and psychopaths. It's called 'Run Like Fuck'"

recorders known: few ones (surely over 1)

recorders in circulation on CD: 1; a lot of versions from copies of this recorder exist, both on CD and vinyl. Few titles: "Live Wall" (satisfaction guaranteed, silver rarities), "The Wall Earl's Court 6/8/80 Performed Live" (digital floyd project, original master series), "The Show Must Go On" (molm, highland), "The Warm Thrill Of Confusion" (sirene), "Bars in the Window", "Live on WRPI Troy New York" "The Wall Live", "The Wall Performed Live" (e.m.k.a.) . All of excellent quality. The taper himself released his master few years ago, also remastered/fanlabeled versions from the actual master transfer has been released then (some of the above titles are actually from that)

1980 August 07

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "Do you like our pig?, Seems we're back in tune. We're going to play some, something for you disco fans, something you can clap your hands to. Home piggy home. Here we go. Together we can conquer the world! It's also for the paranoids and psychopaths here tonight. It's called 'Run Like Hell'"

recorders known: a few ones (prolly over 2)

recorders in circulation on CD: 2

Recorder 1:  untitled, also a version supposed from 1stGen is in circulation but not sounding better than the usual.

Recorder 2: Kbrubaker Cassette/ Neonknight Tape Transfer's unknown gen

to distinguish the 2 recorders in circulation is enough to listen to the MC intro, on recorder 1 someone near to the microphone says "...Sorry" when Yudman says "no fireworks", also there's a sound like the taper smacking a kiss on the mic. when Yudman says "sound and action to concentrate on".

1980 August 08

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "You get that pig out of here! Have you all seen enough of the pig? Home piggy, go on. Gonna do a song in a minute for all the disco freaks in the audience; also for all the paranoids and psychopaths; also for Alan Jones of the Melody Maker - you stupid shit - winner of the small brain contest 1980. It's called 'Run Like Fuck!'"

recorders known: few audio ones (surely over 1) and 1 video source

recorders in circulation on CD: 1 audo, untitled (WWRM016), better copies from fantapes like this exist;

1 video released on CD by MoLM (first set only, second set is from the August 9 date), this also circulated (same contents) under this title "Soundboard on the Wall" (PFR-CDR-001)

1980 August 09

setlist: the usual one

Waters on Run Like Hell: "Do you still like the pig? He's an old pig, but he's still a big pig. This next tune is for all the paranoids in the audience. It's called 'Run Like Hell,' 'Run Like Hell!' It's called 'Run Like Hell!"

recorders known: few audio ones (surely over 3) and 1 video source

recorders in circulation on CD: 3 audio; 1 video

recorder 1: poor sounding source untitled this also has a filler for Outside The Wall that was not recorded by this taper as it seems, better copies from fantapes like this exist (without the filler);

recorder 3: Dixons master; much nicer sounding source than the other recording in circulation, unfortunately there are some distortions in the loud parts.

recorder 4: from italian taper, easy to identify right because the taper talks between songs in italian with an italian lady, fair quality but seems to be recorded far away.

video: audio released on CD by MoLM (second set only, first set is from the August 8 date), this also circulated (same contents) under this title "Soundboard on the Wall" (PFR-CDR-001); digitalized versions of the video from VHS are around in different qualities on the net.

to distinguish the different recorders just read the decrtiption of the recordings and you can't fail, to summarize:

recorder 1: poor quality, the easiest to find on old collectors' tapes, this has a full intro to ITF at the beginning and is missing Outside The Wall, patched from other recordings on some versions. recorder 2: not around as it seems this should be the best sounding source available, complete recording. recorder 3: distortions in the loud parts. recorder 4: italian taper talking between the songs wth an italian lady.
